Lesson 21: Self-Respect
You teach people very clearly how to treat you with the way you act and talk, along with the things you tolerate and accept. People will behave the way you allow them to. You set your own standards and expectations with what you permit, entertain, and how you allow others to speak to you and treat you. Further, the way you speak about yourself also sends clear messages about how much you value and respect yourself. You can’t command respect from people when you’re setting your own bar so low.
- Conduct yourself in ways that command the respect and decency you deserve
- Speak and act in ways that honor your worth and value
- Align yourself with your core values, morals, and ethics
- Develop a personal standard of what feels comfortable and acceptable
- Honor your mind, body, and spirit with how you behave and what you allow
- Protect and honor yourself
- Take a stand against things that are misaligned or dishonoring
- Separate yourself from people or situations that are dishonoring or disrespectful
