Lesson 14: Self-Awareness

Have you ever driven somewhere and had no idea how you got there? Do you go through your routine without ever tuning in to what’s going on and if it’s leading you to where you want to go? Auto-pilot, habit, routine, and blind spots erode intentionality and keep you from being deliberate. If you find yourself lost in the abyss of day-to-day, then self-awareness is your starting point.

Self-awareness is your ability to tune in and pay attention to what’s happening in and around you. It’s your personal wake up call to be mindful of what’s going on as you snap out of the humdrum, lackadaisical perspective of life. Awareness puts you in the driver’s seat as become deliberate about your words, thoughts, choices, energy, and feelings. Simply put, this tool calls for you to be mindful and intentional.

  • Be conscious and alert to your thoughts, feelings, needs, and behaviors

  • Honesty about your motives
  • Recognize healthy vs unhealthy behavior in yourself and others

  • Healthy use of thoughts, words, and behaviors
